We offer individual psychotherapy services tailored to meet the unique needs of:

    Pre-Teens

Navigating the complexities of preadolescence can be overwhelming. We provide a safe and supportive space for young minds to express themselves, build resilience, and develop essential coping skills for the challenges ahead of them.

    Teens

Adolescence is a time of transformation and self-discovery. We focus on helping adolescents navigate the challenges of this critical period, addressing issues like anxiety, depression, identity development, social challenges, and more.

    Young Adults

The transition to young adulthood comes with its own set of challenges, including academic, career, and relationship pressures. This is a time when we begin to reflect and process our lives thus far in an attempt to plan for the future, bringing up potential past trauma to acknowledge and heal from. We strive to empower individuals in their twenties and thirties to make informed decisions and thrive during this pivotal time.

    Adults

Life's demands can take a toll on mental health at any age. We offer support to individuals dealing with a wide range of issues, from managing stress, anxiety, and depression to addressing relationship concerns, life transitions, and processing and coping with past trauma.

At Through the Fog Therapy, we do not accept insurance. This is a self-pay practice where you are responsible for the full payment of session fees.

Why?

Most health care plans today (insurance, PPO, HMO, etc.) offer little coverage and/or reimbursement for mental health services. Most HMOs and PPOs require “preauthorization” before you can receive services. If authorization is given, you are often restricted to seeing the providers on the insurance company’s list. Reimbursement is reduced if you choose someone who is not on the contracted list; consequently, your choice of providers is often significantly restricted.

Insurance can authorize several therapy sessions at a time. Your insurance company may require additional clinical information that is confidential in order to approve or justify a continuation of services. Confidentiality cannot be assured or guaranteed when an insurance company requires information to approve continued services. Even if the therapist justifies the need for ongoing services, your insurance company may decline services. Your insurance company dictates if treatment will or will not be covered.

Insurance companies require clinicians to give a mental health diagnosis (i.e., “major depression” or “obsessive-compulsive disorder”) for reimbursement. It is also important to note that some psychiatric diagnoses are not eligible for reimbursement. This is often true for marriage/couples therapy.

Advantages of Choosing a Self-Pay Practice

  • You are in control of your care, including choosing your therapist, treatment decisions, length of therapy, etc.

  • Increased privacy and confidentiality.

  • Not having a mental health disorder diagnosis on your medical record.

  • Because you get to choose your own therapist, you can avoid waitlists that you may otherwise run into when searching for a therapist that is within network.

  • You’ll know up front what you owe as opposed to confusion regarding what portion of the bill your insurance may cover at any given part of the year in relation to copays and deductibles.

  • Consulting with me on non-psychiatric issues that are important to you that aren’t billable by insurance, such as learning how to cope with life changes, gaining more effective communication techniques for your relationships, increasing personal insight, and developing healthy new skills.
